Anchor

Julie Chin is a multiple Emmy award-winning Anchor, Journalist and meteorologist who’s called Oklahoma home for more than 20 years.

Originally from New York, Julie is known for her sunny disposition and came to the Sooner State for its crazy weather. She tracked Oklahoma storms for nearly a decade as the weekday morning and midday Meteorologist for 2 News Oklahoma.

Julie took a break from the weather for a few years to focus on family and returned to her journalism roots and KJRH in 2020 as an anchor and the Positively Oklahoma special projects reporter. Julie loves shining a light on the great things happening in Green Country, and she has won several awards for her Positively Oklahoma series, including first place from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasting for Best Feature Series, the Society of Professional Journalists Award for Best Series, and a Heartland Emmy Nomination for Human Interest.

Julie also anchors 2 News Oklahoma Weekend Today on Saturday and Sunday morning, a show with a special place in her heart. She was on the original team that created and launched the weekend morning newscast in 2003. At the time, it was Green Country’s only weekend morning news.

Julie has worked at TV stations nationwide as a producer, reporter, anchor, and Meteorologist. She began her career in New York City under the investigative and consumer team at WCBS-TV. Julie also worked at WCTI, WXII, and WBOY before moving to Tulsa for her position at KJRH.

Julie holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University, where she graduated cum laude. She also completed Mississippi State University’s Geosciences Program with honors. Julie maintains her AMS Seal.

Passionate about the community, you will often find Julie emceeing events around town. She’s so active in volunteering that she won the Scripps-Howard William Burleigh Award for Outstanding Community Service. Oklahoma Magazine and Tulsa Business Journal named Julie to their lists of the state’s top “40 under 40.” Julie has also been named an Everyday Hero by the American Red Cross and an honorary Okie from Muskogee from the city of Muskogee.

Julie met her husband here in Tulsa, and they have a son. Now that they have completed their family, Julie is excited to have returned to her first family and first home in Tulsa: 2 News Oklahoma.
