OWASSO, Okla. — Patrick Bippus, an Owasso sixth grader, has taken on more than the average number of extracurricular activities.
He’s an actor, and a new film he stars in called ‘Don’t Move’ will hit theaters on September 11. 2 News Oklahoma sat down with Patrick and his mom to learn more about his growing career.
“We talked about whether this was really what I wanted to do, because once I committed, I couldn’t back out or quit," Patrick said. "And I said, ‘Yes, this is what I want to do.’”
Patrick is 12-years-old and attends the Owasso Sixth Grade Center. At school, he says he’s just like his classmates. He runs cross country and spends time with friends.
But three years ago, he decided to take on something new.
“Most of the time, we have auditions seven days a week, sometimes maybe five days a week, and then we have cross country every day," Patrick said. "And sometimes homework.”
One of Patrick’s latest projects is playing a character named "Connor" in the upcoming film “Don’t Move,” where he stars alongside big names like T-Pain and Rob Riggle. Despite his growing acting career, Patrick still makes time for school and friends. He says while he’s away filming, he completes three hours of schoolwork each day to stay caught up.
Patrick’s mom, Lindsay Bippus, told 2 News she always knew he was destined for something bigger.
“One time, we were getting family pictures taken, and he asked the photographer to take pictures of just him by himself," Lindsay said. "He started posing on his own and really enjoyed being in front of the camera. So I asked him if he wanted to try modeling because I thought that’s something he might enjoy.”
“Once he started modeling, he began getting acting auditions and absolutely fell in love with acting.”
