TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police say Asher went missing Thursday afternoon from his home near 45th Street North and North Delaware Avenue. The search began around 2 p.m. when his family realized he was gone. He was last seen wearing a blue-green shirt and a pull-up.
Nearly 150 first responders from multiple agencies joined the search, but at 8 p.m. Thursday, members of the Tulsa Fire Department found Asher's body just a few blocks from his home.
Police say preliminary evidence suggests Asher walked from his house toward a creek at the end of a cul-de-sac.
2 News Oklahoma spoke with Asher's family in person. With their eyes filled with tears, they wanted to share an important message.
"Keep an eye on your kids. You never know what you are going to lose until you lose it," the Judkins family said.
Tulsa Fire Department Capt. Richard Meulenberg reflected on the search effort and urged the community to stay vigilant.
"We did everything in the playbook. Look at houses, asking neighbors for help, look at bodies of water. That's one of the first things we did, and this is not the outcome anybody wants. Look out for your community. Look out for one another. If you see something that's kind of strange out there. A child in the street that may need some attention, please just call us because you never know what's happening. It could be benign. We get paid by the hour. If you have something out there, even if you're not sure, just call us." Meulenberg said.
The medical examiner has taken over the investigation, and police say they are unable to share any initial findings about what happened at this time.
The Tulsa Fire Department, EMSA, and the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office all assisted in the search. Police say those first responders never gave up hope.
Police say they will provide updates as more information becomes available.
