***TORNADO WATCH FOR CHAUTAUQUA AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES IN KANSAS UNTIL 1AM***
Thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front and spread into parts of northeast Oklahoma after midnight.
Some of these storms will have some severe potential with the main threats including damaging wind gusts, some hail, and heavy rainfall. A limited tornado risk accompanies these storms initially as well. Initially storm chances will increase across far northwest part of Green Country near midnight with storms closer to I-44 in a 5am to 8am window. Storms should clear southeast parts of our forecast are by early/mid afternoon.
Temperatures will be much cooler and stuck in the low/mid 60s for much of the day behind the cold front with widespread cloud cover and a brisk northerly breeze.
Showers and non-severe t-storms are possible, if not likely, for a few spells through the rest of the week. The highest chance of rain comes Wednesday morning and again later Thursday into Friday. A total of 1" to locally 3" of rain may fall for many spots through the end of the week.
Temperatures remain at or below average through the rest of the work week thanks to the unsettled weather pattern. However, gradually warmer temperatures take hold heading into Memorial Day weekend with a continued chance for a few spotty showers and t-storms.
