BLOG: From drought to flood warnings

That was quite the week with rain, freezing rain, and thunderstorms. Over the past several days, we have picked up between three and nine inches of rain in the viewing area. Take a look at the MesoNet graphic above in the media player. Just this time last weekend, I was talking about extreme to severe drought conditions around the region.

Now we are talking about flood warnings. The biggest concern outside of urban flooding, will be the Illinois River around Tahlequah, where it is expected to crest Sunday morning at around 20 feet. You can see the projected height on the line graph above.

We are expecting a break from the wet weather Sunday and Monday, but renewed chances for rain return Tuesday and especially on Wednesday.
