The other five nominations include directing for a documentary, picture editing for a nonfiction program, music composition for a documentary series, sound editing for a nonfiction or reality program, and sound mixing.

In a joint statement, Directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin expressed their gratitude for being nominated.

Thank you to the Television Academy. It is a huge honor to be nominated amongst such great documentaries. And many thanks to our amazing team!

'Tiger King' instantly became a massive hit after debuting on the streaming giant in March.

The series explores the life of former Oklahoma zookeeper and big cat wrangler Joesph "Joe Exotic" and his attempt to hire a hitman to kill Carole Baskin, an animal rights activist.

In 2019, Exotic was convicted in the murder-for-hire plot and several animal abuse violations. He is serving 22 years in a Fort Worth, TX prison.

Fans and Hollywood can't seem to get enough of 'Tiger King'. The show's huge success is leading to spin-off projects. People.com reports that Nicholas Cage is set to play Exotic in a scripted series and Kate McKinnon is taking on the role of Baskin in a separate series.

The 72nd Emmy Awards is taking place Sept. 20.
