TULSA — Summer is fast approaching, and the Salvation Army is working to help people find relief from the Oklahoma heat.
The nonprofit and Westlake Ace Hardware are officially kicking off their annual fan drive this weekend.
It's been going on for 19 years.
Last year, they collected 400 fans in the Tulsa area. The fan drive is a natural extension of efforts to keep neighbors safe.
"The Salvation Army also has cooling stations throughout the community, where folks that maybe don't have air, would be able to cool off, have something cold to drink,” said Major Mark Harwell, Commander for Salvation Army of Tulsa Metro Area.
The fan drive runs until June 23.
