RIPLEY, Okla. — The Ripley Board of Education has appointed Ripley Elementary Principal Lisa Pitts as its new interim superintendent.
Pitts will replace former superintendent Kenny Beam, who handed in his resignation during a special board meeting Thursday, according to Bryan Drummond, the attorney for Ripley Public Schools.
Drummond said the school board accepted Beam's resignation and also voted to terminate 6th grade teaching assistant Kacey Williamson.
Beams and Williamson were arrested last week in connection to an illicit sex business investigation law enforcement called, “Operation Velvet Fury.”
Beams has held his position with the district for 19 years while Williamson started at the middle school for the 2019-2020 school year.
