Police, Tulsa Zoo help brighten fallen firefighter's daughter day after birthday surprise disappears

TULSA — On Tuesday, we told you the story of how a kind gesture for a fallen Tulsa firefighter's young daughter turned sour.

Nearly 100 pink flamingos decorated the yard of Reese Phillips' yard, which was meant to cheer her up, but they disappeared from 111th Street.

Now the Tulsa Police Department has decided to reach out to the Tulsa Zoo to brighten her day.

Zoo officials are inviting Reese, her mother and friends for a free day at the zoo, and get the chance to meet with zoo keepers and hangout with actual flamingos.
