Planned power outage set to last 3 hours in Wagoner

Posted

Wagoner, Okla.--The City of Wagoner has planned a power outage Thursday morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. to replace cross arms coming out of one of the electric substations.

The affected area will span over the Northeast and Southeast quadrants of the city from SE 9th St. to NE 10th St., from Sprague Ave. to Lee Ave.

Only the South side of Cherokee to Wagoner Flowers will be affected, West of Lee Ave.

Dwayne Elam, City Administrator, says this might or might not affect all customers in this area

City officials have posted that they apologize for the inconvenience this will cause.

“The City/WPWA has attempted to notify the businesses that will be affected,” said Elam.

“We began making phone calls yesterday to try and give businesses a 48-hour notice to prepare.”

Elam said they would like to give a further notice, but are unable to do so because of weather-related complications in planning the repairs further out.

“Our goal in this endeavor is to be proactive to minimize a future unexpected outage,” said Elam.

“This hands-on approach gives us the opportunity to take a small amount of time to repair infrastructure that could fail in the future, causing a more complex and longer outage that would be out of our control,” he said.
