Nowata Middle School & High School went on lockdown Friday morning.

The lockdown was lifted just before 10:30am.

Superintendent Leon Ashlock told 2 Works for You a loaded gun magazine was found in the locker room of the football field house.

School officials called Nowata Police, who searched the area and didn't find any weapons.

In a Facebook post, the district said there is no imminent threat to students and urged parents to not come up to the schools.

The superintendent said the lockdown will be lifted when Nowata Police gives the all clear.
