National Weather Service rates tornadoes in Jay, Salina

The National Weather Service on Thursday rated two tornadoes from Wednesday in Green Country.

The NWS rated a tornado that began on the northwest of Jay as an EF-2. The tornado dissipated into McDonald County, Missouri. Several homes were severely damaged, numerous trees were snapped and uprooted, poles were snapped and outbuildings were destroyed.

In Salina, a survey team found EF-1 damage. The tornado developed southwest of town and dissipated northeast of town. Some trees were uprooted and large tree limbs were snapped in the path of the storm.
