Muskogee ninth-grader was victim of double-fatal fire, school says

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Muskogee Public Schools confirms one of its students died in the Sunday morning house fire.

Edgar Cruz, 15, and his 32-year-old brother were victims of the deadly blaze. Cruz was a ninth-grader at Muskogee schools.

Their parents were able to escape – the mother jumped from a second-story window.

One firefighter was injured when he fell through the second floor, but he is expected to be OK.

The cause still is under investigation.
