TULSA — A Whataburger that was damaged, and later demolished after an EF-2 tornado swept through midtown Tulsa in 2017, is being rebuilt.
The fast-food restaurant will be built at 41st and I-44, where it sat before it was demolished.
"We’re thrilled to announce construction for the new restaurant at East 41st Street is officially underway," Whataburger official said in a news release. "Once complete, this new modernized restaurant will include a state-of-the-art kitchen, double drive-thru lanes and an updated dining room. All of us at Whataburger appreciate our customers’ patience as we worked hard to get the new restaurant up and running, and look forward to reopening for the Tulsa community. Be sure to stay tuned for more details about the restaurant in the coming months.”
The tornado damaged about 200 businesses and sent 26 people to the hospital.
