MIAMI, Okla. — Ottawa County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook the capture of one inmate, Justin Eby, who escaped early Thursday morning, along with another inmate, Jerry Nichols. Deputies are still searching for Nichols.
Officials said both men faked medical conditions to escape and are considered armed and dangerous.
Miami Public Schools moved to distance learning on Thursday after the two inmates escaped from the county jail, according to a Miami Public Schools Facebook post.
School officials said they made the decision to move to distance learning to ensure the safety of their students, staff and families.
