GRDA: Man drowned at Neosho River ID'd, driver man reportedly rescued arrested

OTTAWA COUNTY — GRDA police have released the name of the man who drowned while trying to save a woman who drove into the Neosho River early Sunday morning.

Police said Blake Austin Williams, 31, of Fairland, went into the water at approximately 2:30 a.m. to rescue Josie Stovall, 27, who had driven a Dodge truck down into Conners' boat ramp and into the water.

Williams was able to get Stovall back to the shore, but he was unable to get out of the water and drowned, police said.

Police said Stovall was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into the Ottawa County Jail.

The investigation is still ongoing, police said.
