A bill proposed to stop the move of a veterans home from Talihina to Sallisaw passed in committee on Wednesday.
Republican state representative Jim Grego of McAlester authored the proposal. He wants the veterans home close to its current location.
Sallisaw city officials said in January their plan to build a new center still is happening.
We tried to reach out to Oklahoma Veterans Affairs, but they couldn’t be reached for comment.
