TULSA, Okla. - Drivers should prepare for more construction along Interstate 44 during a bridge rehabilitation project.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has been awarded a $45 million grant by the U.S. Department of Transportation to repair bridges that are either structurally deficient or obsolete along I-44.

The Infrastructure for Rebuilding America grant proposal included making bridge repairs over 33rd West Avenue, Union Avenue and Highway 75.

The goal is to make the bridges safer for drivers and bring relief to a highly congested area.

ODOT will formally announce the award on Friday.
