Delaware Co. Sheriff: 2 former detention officers in custody in connection to tasing investigation

DELAWARE COUNTY, Okla. — Two former detention officers are in custody in connection to a tasing investigation at the Delaware County Jail, according to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.

37-year-old Charles Hayes and 45-year-old Shelly Mayberry allegedly used tasers on inmates without justification, according to Sheriff Harlan Moore. The incident was reported in late December.

Court records show Hayes and Mayberry were issued warrants Thursday.

Hayes is charged with seven counts of assault, $70,000 bond, and Mayberry is being charged with two counts, $20,000 bond.

Sheriff Moore said he is very disappointed in the actions of the two ex-employees.
