COWETA, Okla. — The City of Coweta and the American Legion Post 226 unveiled a monument to honor veterans and their loved ones, as well as celebrate the legion's 100th Anniversary.

The stone will be part of a bigger memorial that will be built out of brick pavers outside City Hall.

Mike Walker, one of the legion members, said the goal is to finish the project by summer of 2020.

The legion has been raising money for several months for this project.

According to Walker, the organization has about $40,000 raised of their $80,000 goal, in order to build the memorial.
