COLLINSVILLE, Okla. -- A Collinsville couple together loses over 300 pounds in one year.

Eli and Kelly Wenninger grew up with fairly active lifestyles. After getting married and having kids, the convenience of fast food lead to an addiction to sugar and junk food.

Both reached a breaking point about a year ago when they realized they needed to make a change.

"No discipline, no self control kind of led me to this place to where all of a sudden I found myself well over 400 pounds," said Eli.

His wife Kelly also struggled with her weight.

"People didn’t recognize me and that was really hard that knew me from five, ten years ago so I didn’t recognize myself anymore," said Kelly.

They were suffering both mentally and physically.

"Definitely in the pre-diabetic area, I had high blood pressure," said Eli.

"I was just exhausted so I’d have to nap and I had a hard time getting motivated to get up off the couch to care of what I needed to for my family," said Kelly.

A simple picture Eli saw of himself ignited a flame for change.

"I saw that and I was like oh man that’s not the person I want to be, that’s not who I want to be anymore," said Eli.

The couple committed to 30 days of clean eating.

"Eating meat and vegetables, fruit and nuts, and eggs of course, and cut out all the processed stuff," said Kelly.

They added simple exercises, keeping each other motivated.

"I’d come to her and say 'oh my gosh Kelly I did three push-ups and she was like 'that’s great babe!'" said Eli.

One year later Eli lost over 250 pounds, going from a 54 pant size to 38.

"Our ability to move, inflammation went down, our attitudes are better," said Eli.

Kelly also seeing success shedding 65 pounds.

"Our bodies were thanking us, we could get up off the couch without having to stumble," said Kelly.

Eli and Kelly pushed each other to be better for themselves, and their kids.

"Now I wear them out instead of them wearing me out, they’re like 'Dad we need a break!'" said Eli.
