CRAIG COUNTY, Okla. -- The Craig County Sheriff's Office released a statement Wednesday in connection with what they called an "incorrect report" regarding a case involving missing Welch girls.

The case involves Ashley Freeman and Lauria Bible, who have been missing since 1999. An arrest has been made in the case.

Officials said the false report said a witness was threatened or that "warning shots" were fired. The report was investigated by various law enforcement agencies, and police found no credible threats.

The only living suspect in the disappearance of Bible and Freeman made his first court appearance Monday.
