DANI HEADRICK DIED IN APRIL 2016 AFTER SHE WAS RUN OVER BY HER BOYFRIEND IN A PARKING LOT IN PRYOR. — A Mayes County man on Monday was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter in the 2016 death of his girlfriend.
A jury found Jerome Stimson guilty of manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and possession or selling of paraphernalia.
The jury recommended 20 years in prison. Formal sentencing will be held on June 20 in front of a judge.
Dani Headrick died in April 2016, just one week after she was run over leaving a McDonald's parking lot in Pryor.
Her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Stimson, was driving the truck that killed her.
Court records show Stimson claimed Dani was trying to get out of the truck and he accidentally ran her over.
Dani's mother says the two were fighting when her daughter tried to get out and Stimson hit the gas. She says there were tire marks all over Dani's body.
Dani laid in a coma for a week with swelling on the brain, punctured lungs, and several broken bones before she finally died.
The trial saw four postponements before Monday's verdict finally was rendered.
