TULSA-- A homicide investigation is underway after Tulsa Police said a man noticed a dead body lying alongside a North Tulsa road this afternoon.
"He was walking, just noticed something, smelled something, and he happened to walk over an noticed a body over there, so he called us," said Tulsa Police Department Sgt. Dedlorn Sanders.
Police said the body was found 20 feet from the road near 56th Street North and Mingo. They said because of the body's condition they're unable to tell how old the victim is or if they're a man or a woman.
"We don't really know if it's a male or a female. It looked like they may have had a sports bra on them, but we're not sure," said Sgt. Sanders.
Investigators said the heat can deteriorate a body quickly, and right now it's hard to tell how long the victim has been dead.
"It's so hot out here, you'd be out here a whole day with this heat it can make it look like it can make it look like several days, but it may not be that," said Sgt. Sanders.
