BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- Bartlesville police say there have been up to 19 victims in a possible card skimming case in the area.

Police said the victims experienced unauthorized credit or debit card charges over the weekend.

The first report came at about 5 p.m. Saturday. Some of the unauthorized charges have taken place across Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Broken Arrow, Edmond and Bartlesville.

Police are working to determine if there is something common connecting the cases. People in the Bartlesville area were affected.

It is possible that some kind of card skimmer located in the community might have been collecting the card data, police said. It is also possible the card information was compromised electronically through open WiFi networks.

Police advise residents to be on the lookout for anything unusual when scanning cards, and to report any suspicious behavior.

The case is still under investigation. No arrests have been made.
