An arrest has been made in the murder of a veteran amputee found burned in his backyard.

Denise Lynn Grass has been charged with first-degree murder and desecrating of the corpse of 61-year-old Elvis Dry.

Authorities say Grass was arrested on Friday afternoon by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals.

Dry’s body and wheelchair were found burned on Jan. 20 when deputies performed a welfare check when the man hadn’t been seen in days. Investigators believe he was killed on Jan. 15.

Deputies say the Tulsa office of the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner made positive identification of Elvis Dry by the serial number of a medical device that was found with his burned body.
