THE GENERAL TOMMY FRANKS LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE AND MUSEUM IN HOBART WELCOMED AROUND 1000 PEOPLE TO THE OPENING OF THEIR NEW PERMANENT EXHIBIT 9/11: NEVER FORGET.
THE EXHIBIT FEATURES A WALKTHROUGH TIMELINE OF THE EVENTS ON 9/11/2001, WITH INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS AND VIDEOS. FEATURED ITEMS ON DISPLAY INCLUDE A NEW YORK CITY FIREMAN'S UNIFORM FROM GROUND ZERO, A ROW OF AIRPLANE SEATS, AND A METAL DETECTOR SIMILAR TO THOSE FIRST DEPLOYED FOLLOWING THE EVENTS OF THE DAY.
HOWEVER THE CENTER PIECE OF THE EXHIBIT IS A 14-FOOT 3000LBS INTERIOR I-BEAM FROM THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. CRUSHED AND TWISTED BY THE FORCE OF THE BUILDINGS COLLAPSE. VISITORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO TOUCH THE BEAM AS THERE ARE NO BARRIERS BETWEEN IT AND THE PUBLIC.
