Weather Whys: GOES-R weather satellite gets ready for orbit

Better lightning detection and improved weather forecasts. That's the goal of a new weather satellite launching in the fall.

The GOES-R satellite is set for launch in early November, but there's a lot of work to get it ready. Brandon Wholey and I take a look at what's being done to prep the satellite for orbit, how much it costs, how much it weighs and the tedious work being done to it before the launch.
