WEATHER BLOG: New Tropical Update

Posted
and last updated

We sure did have an active period in the Gulf during late August and early September, and now it looks like the Gulf Coast will see another hurricane this weekend.

Tropical Storm Nate was upgraded early Thursday morning and is moving towards Nicaragua and Honduras before slipping back into the warm waters and then making another landfall along the Yucatan peninsula. Then as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico in very warm waters, it looks to gain strength and form into a category one hurricane. As of now, it is forecasted to hit around the Louisiana coastline on Sunday.

The strong cold front that moves through our area on Monday will help to steer the remnants of Nate to the east into Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, for the beginning of next week.
