We've been getting questions and requests from the snow lovers out there asking when we are going to see snow in Green Country again.
Tulsa has only seen 2 inches of snow so far this season. Tulsa averages 9.6 inches of snow per year, with most of that falling in January, our coldest month.
It's been quite some time since we have seen heavy snow in the Tulsa area. It has been since December 2013 since Tulsa has seen more than 4 inches of snow and since February 2011 since we have seen more than 8 inches.
Not only have we not seen much snow this season, we've also not seen much precip at all. In fact, we have started 2018 out as the 3rd driest year on record. This obviously has not been good for our worsening drought across the state.
While we are starting to move closer towards Spring we still could see more snow before winter is over. In fact, Tulsa has seen snow as late as May before, so there's still some hope for those snow lovers out there.
