BLOG: Latest start to tornado season?

Posted

I am not trying to jinx us, but we are flirting with the chance of seeing the latest start to tornado season in state history.

We have yet to see a tornado in 2018 and according to the National Weather Service office in Tulsa, the latest start to tornado season was back on April 26, 1962.

This weekend we are expecting another storm system to roll in to the area, but as of now the threat for severe weather is low for our area. It looks like the best chance for seeing severe storms this weekend will be far to the south (portions of North Texas) and west.

With temperatures still trending relatively cooler for the next week or two, our start to tornado season may be close to our previously set record, if not later.
