Sweltering heat and humidity has arrived and will settle in across the plain through this week.
A ridge of high pressure will remain in place through at least Saturday, allowing dry, quiet, sunny, and hot conditions.
Expecting near triple-digit heat over the next few days. combined with the high humidity in place, heat index values will top out near 110 degrees.
This is some dangerous heat. Make sure you are staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks from the heat while working or exercising outside. Be sure to check on the elderly and make sure your pets have a cool place.
Our next chance for rain looks to arrive Saturday night into Sunday. Temperatures will also become less hot (but not by much) over the weekend as highs fall back into the mid 90's.
