The First Trailer Is Here For The New ‘Scooby Doo’ Movie

Did you know that Scooby-Doo has an origin story? If you’ve ever wondered how the crime-solving duo of Scooby and Shaggy came to be, you’ll get the whole scoop in the new animated film, “ Scoob! ,” which premieres on May 15, 2020. The movie focuses on how a young Shaggy met a puppy he named Scooby-Doo, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The cast includes Will Forte voicing Shaggy, Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo, Zac Efron as Fred, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne and Gina Rodriguez as Velma. Mark Wahlberg voices the superhero Blue Falcon, while Ken Jeong plays his canine companion, Dynomutt. Jason Isaacs lends his voice to iconic villain Dick Dastardly. Tracy Morgan plays Captain Caveman, a prehistoric superhero.

Warner Bros. has dropped the first official trailer for the movie, and it looks like a lot of fun with plenty of self-referential humor:

“Scoob!” is the first full-length animated Scooby-Doo movie . The film “reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc.,” according to the summary provided by Warner Bros. Pictures on YouTube.

“Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world,” the summary reads. “As they race to stop this global ‘dogpocalypse,’ the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.”

Wow! Sounds intriguing!

The movie is directed by Tony Cervone, who is a “Scooby-Doo” veteran. He also directed the Scooby-Doo TV series “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” (2010-2013) and the 2015 film “Scooby-Doo! And Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery.” The last time Scooby-Doo fans were able to catch the lovable pooch on the silver screen was in 2002’s live-action/computer-animated “Scooby-Doo: The Movie.”
