TULSA, Okla. — The OSSAA is expanding this year's playoffs to all football teams in the state of Oklahoma due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association officials said over the past month or so they have seen more than 25 games per week being canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

Officials said schools have the option to opt-out but must do so by the Saturday of Week 10.

Allowing all teams into the playoffs will only add one week to the playoff schedule, officials said. Most state championship games will be pushed back one week as well.

Teams that are not able to play in a playoff game due to coronavirus concerns will be eliminated, OSSAA said. Whichever football team the newly eliminated team defeated in order to get into the
playoffs would then take their place.
