• Swimming - Finals feature American Connor Jaeger against a stacked field in the men’s 400m free, plus the men's and women's 400m IM events, the latter featuring U.S. contenders in 2012 Olympic silver medalist Elizabeth Beisel and 2015 Worlds silver medalist Maya DiRado.
• Beach Volleyball - Americans Kerri Walsh Jennings and new partner April Ross make their Rio debut, with Walsh Jennings seeking a fourth consecutive gold.

NBC HIGHLIGHTS (Daytime):
• Cycling - Coverage includes the men's individual road race in cycling, featuring Americans Taylor Phinney and Brent Bookwalter.
• Water Polo - The U.S. faces defending champion Croatia in each team’s opener.
• Swimming - Qualifying heats in swimming include the men's 400m IM, 400m free and 100m breast, and the women's 100m fly, 400m IM and 4x100m free relay.
• Volleyball – The United States, silver medalists at the past two Olympics, begins preliminary-round action against Puerto Rico, which qualified a women’s volleyball team to the Olympics for the first time.

NBC HIGHLIGHTS (Late Night):
• Gymnastics - Coverage includes the men’s team competition in gymnastics.

• Archery - The first medals of the Rio Olympics will be awarded in women's air rifle, a shooting event for which China returns reigning Olympic champion Yi Siling and Du Li, who won the April test event in Rio.
• Rugby - The United States women face Fiji in a preliminary-round match as rugby returns to the Olympic program.
• Basketball – Australia vs. France: In a preliminary-round men’s basketball game, two San Antonio Spurs teammates meet as Patty Mills and Australia face Tony Parker-led France. U.S. vs. China: Kevin Durant and Paul George lead the United States men's basketball team in a Group A prelim against China, anchored by former NBA player Yi Jianlian. The Americans are a perfect 16-0 over the past two Olympics, including a 31-point victory over China when the squads met at the 2008 Beijing Games.
• Soccer - Live coverage as the United States women's national team faces France in a Group G prelim. Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan lead Team USA’s pursuit of a fourth straight Olympic gold, while France seeks to build on its fourth- place finish in 2012.
• Judo - Coverage includes the men’s 60kg and women’s 48kg classes; in the latter, reigning Olympic champion Sarah Menezes of Brazil could deliver the host nation's first gold of the 2016 Games.

• Archery - In the men’s archery team event, the Brady Ellison-led United States target a return to the podium after earning silver at the 2012 London Games.

USA HIGHLIGHTS:
• Field Hockey - A live women’s field hockey preliminary-round match features Team USA against Argentina, a medalist at the past four Olympics.
• Fencing - Sisters Courtney and Kelley Hurley join Kat Holmes in representing Team USA in the women’s individual epee event.
