• Swimming - Live coverage of swimming finals, featuring world record-holder Katie Ledecky in the women's 400m free and Dana Vollmer in the women’s 100m fly; Vollmer returns to the event a new mother after taking gold in London. Also in the pool, the U.S. looks to avenge a 2012 second-place finish to France in the men’s 4x100m free relay.
• Gymnastics - Women's team competition in gymnastics begins with Simone Biles at the helm of the heavily favored U.S. squad.
NBC HIGHLIGHTS (Daytime):
• Cycling - The women’s road race in cycling, where American Megan Gaurnier, coming off a bronze medal showing at last year’s Worlds, could contend on Rio’s mountainous course.
• Volleyball - On the first day of men’s volleyball action, a young U.S. team on the rise faces Canada in a preliminary-round match. After winning gold in 2008, Team USA was eliminated in the quarterfinals in 2012 before winning the World Cup in 2015.

• Gymnastics - Coverage includes women’s team competition in gymnastics.

• Basketball - U.S. vs. Senegal: The United States women's basketball squad takes on Senegal in a Group B preliminary-round game. Team USA seeks a sixth consecutive Olypmic triumph, and for Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Tamika Catchings, a gold in Rio would give each a set of four. Brazil vs. Lithuania: Host Brazil faces Lithuania, which seeks a podium return after earning bronze at three straight Games in 1992, 1996 and 2000.
• Soccer - Germany vs. Korea: Germany, winner of the Brazil-hosted 2014 World Cup, faces South Korea (live) in a Group C men's soccer prelim at Fonte Nova Arena in Salvador. Brazil vs. Iraq: The host nation’s pursuit of gold in men’s soccer continues as Brazil faces Iraq in a Group A preliminary-round match from Mane Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia (live).
• Judo - Brazil’s Erika Miranda, a medalist at the past three judo world championships, is a contender in the women’s 52kg class. Coverage also includes the men's 66kg final.

• Soccer - In live coverage of men's soccer prelims, Fiji takes on Mexico and Honduras plays Portugal.
