Okla. Olympians: Tommy Evans qualified for wrestling in 1952, took home silver

Tulsa native Tommy Evans is a two-time state and national championship wrestler who qualified for the Olympics in 1952.

Evans wrestled at Rogers High School before going on to win two national championships as an Oklahoma Sooner in 1952.

Later that year, Evans qualified for Team USA and brought home a silver medal. When he returned to Norman. Evans led the Sooners to two more national titles, one in 1960 and 1962.

He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1976 and recognized as a wrestler and a coach.
