Talala native Edwin Evers rallied past Park Hill's Jason Christie to win the 2016 Bassmaster Classic Sunday.

The Green Country duo finished 1-2 in the standings.

Evers staged a dramatic comeback Sunday. Producing the biggest bag of the day at 29 pounds, 3 ounces. His three-day total of 14 bass weighed 60 pounds, 7 ounces.

The 16-pound swing on the leaderboard was the largest in Classic history.

“It was a magical day,” Evers said. “I don’t even know what to say. I’ve dreamed of that trophy since I was a little kid."
