Union, Bixby, Wagoner capture high school footbal state championsips

TULSA - A season of practice, discipline and hard work has paid off for three Green Country schools. 

Bixby,  Oologah, Wagoner and Union all took the field Friday for their chance to hoist that gold ball and to call themselves state champions. Bixby, Wagoner, and Union all succeeded in their quest.

Union defeated Norman North 50-35 for their first Class 6A-1 state championship since 2011. The win keeps the 6A-1 state championship in Green Country for the 21st straight year. 

Victory Christian and Adair play in semifinals for their right to play for a championship next week.

The Bixby Spartans held off Lawton 39-31 to capture their third consecutive 6A-II state championship. 

In 4A. Wagoner  and Oologah met for the second time this season, and Wagoner prevailed again. The Bulldogs beat Oologah 28-13 to the third straight 4A state championship. 

In 2A semi-final play Victory Christian defeated Chisolm 21-6, and Milwood beat Adiar 30-14. Both teams will meet next week in the state championship.
