As fans from all over the nation and even from around the world start to fill up Houston for the Final Four tournament, one Sooner fan in particular is ready to cheer on his team.
Eduardo Najera played for the University of Oklahoma from 1996 to 2000 and from then went on to play in the NBA.
This week, however, he won’t be burning rubber on the courts but generating buzz about the games.
Originally from Mexico, Najera says he didn’t speak of a word of English when he started playing for the Sooners. Now, not only has he learned a new language but he’s also gained the title of the 9th all time OU scoring list.
Najera doesn’t plan to be the average bystander in the stands, though. He is planning to give a play-by-play account on the radio for a station in Mexico.
When asked how he could remain objective when discussing the OU games, he said “I made a deal and I said I would root for the Sooners. They had no problem with that.”
