PASADENA, Calif. (AP) -- Pasadena's police chief says there are no known terrorist threats to the New Year's Day Rose Parade and Rose Bowl football game.
Chief Phillip Sanchez told a press conference Thursday that accurate threat assessments and fan safety is the top priority.
Hundreds of thousands of spectators are expected to line the route of the 129th Rose Parade, many camping overnight along about 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) of Colorado Boulevard.
Sanchez says the boulevard will be closed at 10 p.m. New Year's Eve, with barricades blocking 52 minor cross-streets, and vehicles and law enforcement officers stationed at 21 major cross-streets.
The chief says there will be bomb detection dogs and both overt and covert security personnel everywhere.
The 104th Rose Bowl is a College Football Playoff semifinal pitting Oklahoma against Georgia.
