TULSA, Okla. — The first football game at the new Will Rogers stadium is canceled due to the opponent's football team being quarantined, according to the Will Rogers Athletic Director.
The Ropers were set to take on Nathan Hale High School on Friday, Sept. 11 for the first football game in the new stadium.
According to a release from the Will Rogers Athletic Director, the Nathan Hale football team was placed in a quarantine due to COVID-19 late on Sept. 8. Officials did not give any further details why the Nathan Hale team was placed in quarantine.
The Hale versus Will Rogers game will not be made up, officials said.
Officials said the ribbon cutting event scheduled that same night is postponed until Sept. 24 when Will Rogers battles it out against East Central.
Fans who already reserved a ticket and will not need it for the game on Sept. 24th are being asked to email markwkr@tulsaschools.org. Otherwise, officials said fans will have their ticket available for purchase at will call on the 24th.
Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you on the 24th!
