NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine had surgery on his left ankle Monday.
The school said in a news release that Perine injured a ligament during the Orange Bowl loss to Clemson on Dec. 31. He played through pain at times and finished with 15 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Perine will miss spring practice, but he expects the two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection to make a full recovery.
Perine rushed for team highs of 1,349 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. He scored 13 of those in the final seven games. As a freshman in 2014, Perine ran for 1,713 yards and 21 touchdowns. He set an NCAA FBS single-game record with 427 yards rushing against Kansas on Nov. 22, 2014.
