Oklahoma State University introduced its new men's head basketball coach, Mike Boynton, Jr. on Monday.
Boynton, 35, was a surprise pick of Athletic Director Mike Holder after Brad Underwood left Stillwater after one season for Illinois. Boynton was a little-known assistant for Underwood last season and for three seasons at Stephen F. Austin.
In an emotional press conference, Boynton thanked the university for the opportunity but left no doubt that he felt he earned the job.
He said his team will play tough man to man defense and the offense will come around depending on the players they get.
The former South Carolina Gamecocks player said he was proud of his school for making the Final Four but that he hopes the Cowboys will be playing on the final college basketball weekend of the season soon.
