JENKS, Okla. — Bixby rode a blowout second half against Midwest City to win 49-20, and secure a spot in the 6A-II title game. The Spartans will play for their third straight state championship on Dec. 5 against Choctaw, who they beat 24-13 on Oct. 9.
Braylin Presley had not scored until the waning minutes of the first half. With the game tied 14-14, head coach Loren Montgomery called for a wildcat formation at the goal line.
Earlier in the game, Presley handed it off out of the same look. This time, he did not, rushing in for his first score and giving Bixby a lead they would not surrender.
The Spartans leaned heavily on Presley throughout the first drive of the second half, and Presley responded. A 42-yard touchdown run extended Bixby's lead; the Spartans would outscore Midwest City 28-3 in the half.
Presley ended with 286 rushing yards and four touchdowns, adding five receptions for another 56 yards. Senior quarterback Mason Williams threw for 100 yards on 16 attempts and one touchdown.
Playing in Owasso, Union trailed 21-0 at the half against Edmond Santa Fe, but mounted a fierce comeback in the second half to nearly send the game to overtime.
Grayson Tempest had Union at the goal line late in the fourth quarter, after an AJ Green touchdown cut the lead to seven.
Tempest's throw for the endzone was intercepted at the goal line, and the Wolves knelt out the clock to secure the 21-14 win.
Jenks will play Edmond Santa Fe at 1:00 pm on Dec. 5 in Edmond for the 6A-I championship.
Bixby will play Choctaw at 7:00 pm on Dec. 5 in Edmond for the 6A-II championship.
