British authorities have reopened a busy rail station in London after it was evacuated on Friday following reports of gun shots.

Social media reports showed people were running into pubs and shops near the Oxford Circus subway station, seeking shelter, and British Transport Police tweeted that officers were on scene.

The British Transport Police tweeted, "At this stage, we have received one report of a woman sustaining a minor injury when leaving Oxford Circus station. There are no other reported casualties."

Met Police said, "We have not located any trace of suspects, evidence of shots fired or casualties. Officers still on scene. If you are in a building stay there, if you are on the street in Oxford Circus, leave the area. Officers continue to search the area."

The Associated Press reports the area was packed with commuters and shoppers at the end of the working week and amid Black Friday sales.

Area businesses were evacuated for nearly an hour. They have since reopened.
