TULSA— As the situation in Turkey unfolds, Turkish-Americans are keeping a close eye on the attempted military It’s nerve wrecking for Aliye Shimi, a Turkish-American from Tulsa.
"A group has said ok stay inside stay safe, but yet others have called people to go outside and fight the military and fight for their freedom and so we're getting mixed messages so I’m just begging my family member sot please just stay inside and stay safe," Shimi.
Shimi says her family in Turkey has been asking her what's going on since they are getting mixed messages back home.
"All I can do is just beg for them to stay inside, they were just crying and I was trying to console them the best of my ability."
