TULSA - Having a baby is a life-changing event for any family, but one year ago a Green Country family feared they may lose their sweet baby girl.

Play time is the best time for miss Lincoln, but one person's missing.

"Dada," she said looking up to her mother.

Mother, trying to teach her another word, "mama."

However, she knows any moment, let alone words, are something to smile about.

“She was always active so that’s why I never understood such a grim outcome," said Lincoln's mother Lauren George.

She came into the world with battles to fight.

“She was purple and blue and had no signs of life, so it was pretty shocking," said her father Riley Pool.

“They had to resuscitate her, put her on a ventilator and then we found out the next day she lost all of her blood into my system," mother recalled.

Hooked up to machines, wires in every direction, she was fighting to stay alive.

“From the questions they were asking me, it didn’t seem like they knew exactly what the deal was.”

The test results weren't good, in fact awful: Brain damage, seizures and potential blindness.

“She would never walk, talk, eat she would basically live in a vegetative state.”

But she's here, and the test results couldn't have been more wrong.

Father, enjoying every second with his active, inquisitive little girl.

“It was very emotional.”

Mom, just grateful for a first birthday.

“We didn’t know if that would come.”

Now, just like those bright baby blue eyes the future is wide open.

“I just feel like she’s our own little miracle baby.”

They'll still face challenges, but little miss Lincoln has proven there's nothing she can't beat.

Lincoln's mother is accepting non-perishable food donations for the FedEx Family house that supports and houses families while they support their children through hospital visits in Tennessee.
