TULSA - The Tulsa Little League Mustangs first heard about Grant Pinkstaff's tragic injury when a team mom, Nancy Hillman saw his GoFundMepage on Facebook.
Grant was shot in the head by a stray bullet while watching 4th of July fireworks with his family last week.
Hillman said even though the team only knew him as "The first basemen of the Nationals" they had to help.
Each family contributed, so did umpires and former players who caught wind of the effort.
First base coach Ray Botello said all Tulsa Little League teams are family, and they're just praying for Grant's recovery.
The team surprised Grant Saturday after their game with a $225 donation and the game ball signed by each player and coach.
Grant's family told 2 Works for You that doctors aren't removing the bullet from his head. He isn't eating much, and his vision is impaired, but he's doing better. July 10 is Grant's birthday, but the family doesn't expect doctors to release him in time to celebrate at home.
