TULSA-- It was a slow work day for Burger In Paradise owner Mossess Sheker. He said with much of 71st street closed while crews fix the broken waterline at 71st and Sheridan, he's hardly seen any customers.
"Usually we have more customers around today like this time, but it looks like people tried to avoid the jam here so they use different ways so we lost some customers," said Sheker.
Tulsa city officials said the 24-inch waterline broke because of erosion. They said crews are working continuously fix the line without causing more issues.
"We don't anticipate shutting the line down, so we don't anticipate anybody without water or any low pressure type situations," said City of Tulsa Water & Sewer Department, Eric Parker.
Once the waterline is finished, city leaders said crews will be repairing the pavement, which means lanes will be closed even longer.
"It'll take several days to get that fixed," said Parker.
Sheker said he hopes the construction won't hurt his business in the long run.
"Get rid of it as soon as they can, and we'll appreciate that," said Sheker.
